ITINERARY

Night 01
COLOMBO/ NEGOMBO

Meet and Greet at the Airport with your English-speaking driver who will be with you throughout the tour. 

Transfer to Colombo / Negombo (Colombo is the main city of Sri Lanka which is around 1 hour away from the Airport. Negombo is a beach town closer to the airport. If you are not keen on visiting Colombo, it is suggested to stay around Negombo as it will save travel time the next day )

    • Colombo is a vibrant city that has been the commercial hub of the country since colonial times.

    • Leisure on beach
    • Check in to the hotel & relax
Night 02
SIGIRIYA

After breakfast from the hotel, transfer to Sigiriya. 

Transfer to Sigiriya (Transfer time 4-5 hours air taxi transfers are available)

In the evening

  • Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage (Entrance fee USD 15.00 per person)
    • Pinnawala is a place where orphaned elephants are kept together. 
    • Bathing time (from 10-12 noon) is a great time to watch their behaviour. You can even feed the elephants at an additional price

(Millennium Elephant Foundation is a place where you have the opportunity to encounter elephants up close, including riding, bathing, and feeding them.)

  • Sigiriya Rock Fortress (Entrance fee USD 35.00 per person)
    • Sigiriya is an ancient kingdom of Sri Lanka built on the rock more than 2000 years ago. The most famous cultural site in Sri Lanka which is a Unesco Heritage Site
    •  You must be physically fit. 1200 steps to the top
    • Make sure to climb during the early hours of the day or late hours of the day to avoid too much heat
    •  Keep a water bottle for each person

Night 03
SIGIRIYA

Breakfast at the hotel. Continue with excursions around the Sigiriya

ACTIVITIES 

During the morning hours

  • Polonnaruwa medieval city (Half a day activity time – Entrance fee USD 25.00 per person)
    • Another popular UNESCO Heritage site in Sri Lanka
    • Keep a water bottle for each person
    • A cycling tour is recommended

During the afternoon hours

  • Minneriya National Park (3 hours activity time – Entrance fee USD 35.00 per person plus private jeep hire USD 50.00 up to 5-6 people)
    • This is mainly to see wild elephants in Sri Lanka. Elephant gathering is the most iconic event taking place during the dry months. 
    • Minneriya / Kawdulla or Eco Park, depending on where most elephants are gathered, you could visit the specific park. 
    • Please follow the instructions by your trakker.
Night 04
KANDY

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Kandy (Transfer time 2.5 hours)

ACTIVITIES 

  • Dambulla Rock cave temple  ( 2 hours activity time – Entrance fee USD 10.00 per person)
    • Dambulla is a rock cave temple built more than 2000 years ago. 
    • Beautiful drawings in 3 different caves belong to a few different eras
    • You will need to climb up some steps to reach the cave.
  • Temple of Tooth Relic ( 2 hours activity time – Entrance fee USD 10.00 per person)
    • The Temple of Tooth is kept in the palace of the last king who controlled Sri Lanka before it was colonised by the British in 1815
    • This is the most sacred place of the Sri Lankan Buddhists. However, it is one of the best places to study the history of Sri Lanka’s pre-colonial period. 
    • Next to the Palace, the lake Bogambara is a man-made lake 300 years ago. 
  • Kandy city tour ( 2 hours activity time)
    • Kandy is a congested city that was a key destination from the pre-colonial period. Walking around the lake, and Kandy market can be a good experience. 
  • Traditional dancing show ( 1.5 hours activity time – Entrance fee USD 8.00 per person)
Night 05
NUWARAELIYA

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Nuwara Eliya (Transfer time 2.5 hours)

ACTIVITIES 

  • Ramboda waterfall (1-hour activity time)
  • Tea factory visit (1.5 hours activity time)
    • Sri Lanka is famous for its Ceylon Tea brand. You can witness the process of producing tea and taste a good cup of tea.
  •  Nuwara Eliya Colonial town, Gregory Lake (1.5 hours activity time)
    • Nuwara Eliya was the hill country capital during the colonial era. The area is surrounded by lush green tea estates hiding the treasures of the mythical Rama-Ravana ancient story. 
Night 06
GALLE

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Galle via Ella (Transfer time 5.5 hours – It is recommended to transfer from Nanuoya to Ella via scenic train.)

ACTIVITIES 

  • Scenic Train Journey (3 hours travel time – USD 20 per person)
    • Get on to the train from Nanuoya train station (connecting to Nuwara Eliya) and get off from Ella train station. Your driver will drop you off and pick you up from respective train stations.
  • 9 Arch Bridge – Ella (No entrance fee)
    • The Nine Arch Bridge, also known as the Bridge in the Sky, is a colonial-era viaduct in Sri Lanka and a prime example of railway construction. 
  • Ravana Water Falls – Ella (Roadside waterfall)
    • Ravana falls is named after the legendary king Ravana from the Indian epic, the Ramayana. According to legend, Ravana, the king of Lanka, kidnapped Princess Sita and hid her in the caves behind this waterfall.
Night 07
GALLE

Leisure and activities in Galle.

ACTIVITIES 

  • Whales & Dolphin Watching Trip (Half a day activity- USD 50.00 per person – Seasonal activity from December to May)
    • Join a whale watching boat departing from Mirissa Harbour at 6:00 AM with a packed breakfast. The trip lasts around 4-5 hours before returning.
  • Galle Dutch Fort (No entrance fee – Guided tours are available)
    • A beautiful town built within a fort constructed by the Dutch over three centuries ago.
    • Galle Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage site in Sri Lanka
    • Many hidden stories within the fort; hire a guide to take you around and share the history
